I received a surprise call a few weeks ago on a Monday afternoon from a friend. While I was in my office, I wasn't particularly busy as Mondays normally function as my only real day off. I try to let my mind rest, sort out what happened the previous week and prioritize for the upcoming week.
Pastoring means Saturday is a day of preparation and of course Sunday in the minds of many is the “only day preachers work anyway.” However, immediately after the normal pleasantries, came the question. Not just any question, but the one that sends up the pastoral antennae.
"Pastor, are you very busy?"

| | Christians come in all shapes and sizes. Some like to live it part-time, others live it around the clock. Some have been serving Christ for a few weeks, and others have been Christians for decades.
At the Baptist Muse, we've seen just about every type of Christian - but what about you? Have you just recently gotten saved or gotten right with God, or has it been so long that you can hardly remember what is was like before Christ?
In this Open Thread, let's compare our different situations. If you're an experienced Christian, let the newer ones what important lessons you've learned. If you're new at it, feel free to ask any questions you might have about what it's like a few years down the road.

| Christmas is over and it's back to your normal everyday life. Today is a special day at my parents house. Today they are celebrating their 22nd anniversary! Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad. I love you.
I was three years old when my parents got married. Both had been divorced due to cheating spouses and the Lord crossed their paths. They attended the same church but started dating after a meeting at the county fair grounds. Mom had two children, my older brother and myself. Dad had three kids living with him two girls and a boy. Growing up I never felt that I wasn't one of his children. They added a few more siblings to the picture. For as long as I can remember he has always been there for me.

I grew up Lutheran and remember going to the services hoping we would take communion that Sunday because then we would be forgiven for our sins. I knew about Jesus, but never asked him to be my Savior. After I was confirmed as a Lutheran in church (still unsaved and 12 years old or so) it was not long until the rituals of the Lutherans led me to doubt there validity. I totally turned my back on any and all forms of religion. I gave my life to serve myself.
I remember people asking me "do you believe in God?" My response would be something extremely close to "I don't believe in God. I believe in Science and Evolution." I gave my heart to shoplifting, music, video games, women, alcohol, and drugs when I was 16, 17, and 18. I was extremely addicted to internet pornography. In the shackles and bondage of sin I began to consider my eternal condition. I began to realize what a filthy, lying, fornicating, thief I was, and if there was a God I would certainly end up in hell.
