A Faster, More Exciting Website

fireworksI'm very excited to announce to the Baptist Muse community that we have just moved the site to a new server.  We perviously had this site located on servers that we were renting from Godaddy but there were two main reasons that I've been wanting to move away from them.  First, their servers are painfully slow and I'd recieved many, many reports about the time that it takes to load a page on the site.  Second, I don't like the promotional efforts of godaddy and I don't want to support their business any longer.  Godaddy is run by a man named Bob Parsons who, if I'm not mistaken, was also the creator of QuickVerse Bible software.  When I originally selected Godaddy as our hosting company for this site, I thought that I would be supporting a man who creates software that honors Jesus Christ.  I have learned that quite the opposite is true.  If you visit the Godaddy website you will find a link that says "Too-Hot for TV Internet Only Commercials."  Those types of promotions don't get my business.  I'm sorry to say that Bob Parsons has come a long way from where he once was and I've taken my our business elsewhere.

We're glad to get away from this company and we are absolutely thrilled about the speed of the new site.  Previously it would take 10, 15, or even 20+ seconds to load a page on this site.  I can now load a page in between 2 and 5 seconds.  I am very happy with that and hopefully that will allow us to be a greater blessing to a greater number of people.

There are a few minor glitches that we have noticed during this transition.  If you notice anything that seems different or broken, be sure to leave us a comment here so that we can get it fixed up right away.  If it seems faster, leave us a comment.  If it seems the same or slower, leave us a comment.  We want to hear from you.  Hopefully the Baptist Muse can begin to grow once more!

In Christ,
Nicholas Z. Cardot

Way to go! I thank our God for the sense of discernment and non-compromise he's given the administrators of the Baptist Muse. The extra speed is nice too!

Thanks Bro. Aaron. I was with them for a long time, but I'm so glad to be able to get away from them. For a while, I just didn't know how to transfer the gigabytes of content to a new server. I did a bunch of research this weekend. Plus we use a content management system called Joomla to power the pages of this site and I didn't know who to migrate the mysql database from the former company to the new company. I'm not very good with databases. But I was able to figure that out this weekend. I just hope that not to many things got broken on the site during the move. And I'm sorry about the hour or two of down time earlier today. Thanks.

Good job, Nick. It's definitely faster on my end as well. Terrific move!

It is a lot faster. I have the Muse set to load everytime I open my browser window. I used to be able to type in a new link in the address bar before the site was even beginning to load. Now the whole site is loaded before I get a new link typed in.

Thanks Jeff and Diane! Everyone should set the Baptist Muse as their homepage. Great idea Diane!

I used to press the stop button when loading if I was in a hurry, to get to a different page but now it loads pretty fast. Baptist Muse is my homepage. I was unaware of "GoDaddy" and their promo's. I just didn't go there because Drunkard Dale Earnhardt Jr. advertised for them and they sponsored him. Great Job.

I am a newbie here, so can not comment on the speed issue. I do want to thank you and support your discernment in making the switch. Thanks for the hard work.

Yeah, I apologize to all of you for the time that I had this site hosted there. I actually have about six sites that are hosted on their servers and I have been working this week to move them all off one at a time. Soon I will be able to just close my account with them.

Hey Larry, thanks for stopping by here and I hope that we can be a blessing to you.

I'm the site administrator for my church's website (www.wsbc-stephenville.org), and we have it hosted at baptistwebsite.com. If you ever have to move again, I highly recommend them.

Perhaps you should move your domain to your host at Enom to get away from that evil Bob Parsons Godaddy.com

That's an interesting site that you linked to in your comment. Nodaddy.com. Lot's of interesting information there. Thanks.

Great! I'm glad to hear that!

As of this morning at around 12:30, I have moved the last of my sites from Godaddy servers. I now have to initiate a domain name transfer for about ten domain names which I should be able to initiate tonight. Those can take as much as 72 hours for that transaction to take place. So by Monday, I could possibly be completely closing this godaddy account. I'm really excited!
