Tell us what you believe on the subject and we'll jump right in with you. This sounds like it could be a great conversation. Thanks so much for joining, by the way.

Once again, another hotly debated question arises. I believe God blesses some remarried folks. I believe God uses some remarried folks. Beyond that, I know what I believe about divorce. I have to teach and preach that it was for the lost, not the true people of God. I know I haven't quoted any scripture to back my position and I believe I have it, I just don't have time to run it down right now.

I can't see how it can get any easier to understand than this...
Mark 10: [11] And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her.
[12] And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery.
For this reason, when my second marriage (my first wife passed away) ended in divorce 10 years ago, I have never even dated, or been seen alone with a woman. I will never remarry as long as my second wife is still alive.

Bro. Garry,
Your resolve to stand by the scriptures will be blessed by the Lord. I believe you are correct in your position. As a pastor I am often confronted by those who have already remarried and wonder what is there plight. Should they divorce? Should they stay out of church? Should they continue? What are their scriptural options?

I believe that any Christian who remarries should absolutely remain married. Did they commit adultry when they married? Yes, I believe the scripture is clear on that, BUT I do not believe they are daily committing adultry while married now. The sin was once on the day the two became one flesh and that sin, as well as all sin, is and can be covered by the blood. For them to divorce again, would be simply adding another sin to their account. I also believe they can be qualified for work for the Lord in any capacity except Pastor, or Deacon.
Just a layman's two cents

The Scriptures are very clear. You both have hit this right on the head. But don't get me wrong, anyone else who might be reading this. There is not a single one of us (I suppose this would apply to all of us) who are against the person who has been remarried. We are not against you. We are opposed to what you did, but so is the Scripture. However, God still wants to use you in amazing ways and we are completely for you and want to help you be used of God in every capacity with the sole exclusions of Pastor and Deacon. And those two are only out of bounds because of Paul's epistles to Timothy and Titus. Not because we are against you.

Remarried couples can still do amazing work for Christ.
Concerning divorced men losing the option of pastor and deacon, consider this: Would you ever seek marital counsel from a pastor or deacon who has been divorced in the past?

Do you all feel like I came across negatively or inappropriately in my previous comment about not being against anyone who has been divorced?
