This movie is rated R and contains violence and bad language, but is said to have a good message. Can it?

Thoughts?

It shows the preservation of the Bible, the King James Bible. That's a good message. And Eli, who is the guardian for the last Bible around, is also protected.

Well as it turns out. It is the New King James version that is used in the movie.

The Book of Eli was an excellent movie. I watched it online with a friend of mine one night and thoroughly enjoyed it. While I cringed over the language, the violence is just a matter of taste I think as it did not bother me in the slightest. Without it, the movie I believe would have been dull, because the story line alone is not compelling enough to hold people's attention in today's secular society I feel. The story line however was fantastic. The lengths this man goes to in preserving the last surviving Bible recalls the history of our Bible and how many have suffered for it's survival.

Yes, it could have been made better, no language, no inuendos, etc, but for a movie made in Hollywood, it's the closest thing we'll ever see to a favorable look at religion.

A very entertaining movie. It was intense to see how important the Bible is made in the plot. The last remaining Bible on the whole planet and this guy has it. The implications of something like that...

One thing is sure, no matter the attempts to get rid of God's word throughout the ages, it is a rock that has withstood all the assaults against it and will continue to do so. Praise God for preserving His words as He promised He would do!
