The internet is a bit different. It actually has uses that are profitable, whereas cable does not.

Are these the only channels and types of programs you watch then? AND what can you get from these channels that you can't get off of the internet?

I don't actually have Cable in my house. I have a tv, but no signal hooked up to it. But, when I am at work, I often turn on the history channel. And yes, other than like fox news, that is all that I watch there.

Even then we need to be selective of what we watch. There are still programs on these channels that are in open mockery to the word of God, not to mention commercials that display flesh and wordly ammusements. When we put anything before our eyegate ask youself one question, "Is this Christ-exhalting or God-honoring? or does it feed my lazy, sinful flesh?" I Cor 10:31

Who watches the commercials? Right now I am watching the Jets beat up New England. Does this offend anyone?

Another sad fairy tale. I've learn much on the discovery and history networks, much of which is unavailable legally on the internet. What you can learn from a $500 (low estimate) trip to Grand Canyon about God's creation can be seen from the comfort and safety of my home at a reasonable cost. I'm not saying that I'd rather see it on TV, but I can't afford to travel to each of the different states every month. Ever saw "How it's Made"? (Ok, I'm showing the geek inside of me now...)

Same with the internet. You wouldn't check out every link that Google results gave you from a search result.

not to mention commercials that display flesh and wordly ammusements.
Right. And we've never seen an inappropriate banner advertisement on the internet! No! Never! And modern technology allows me to fast forward to the next show segment in a blink of an eye. I wish banner advertisements had that option...

I'll take a stand that a gun is more dangerous than the internet. That point doesn't hold water.

The same question you ask when you use the internet is the same question you ask when you watch something on the television... "Is this Christ-exhalting or God-honoring?" In the case of the internet yes you can do things that are Christ-exhalting and God-honoring. I find when you ask that about cable television the amount of shows that you can watch are so limited as to not warrent getting cable. Is the programming you watch exhalt Christ? Does it honor God? Or does it feed your fleshly appititie for entertainment? These are the tough thought-provoking questions you must ask. In my opinion, I have seen nothing on cable television that is truly God-honoring or Christ-exhalting.

There are millions of things you have never seen. It doesn't mean that they don't exist. As we have already stated, many of us find God-honoring programming on the television, including history and the sciences.

What is your definition of God-honoring or Christ-exalting? Is your microwave God-honoring and Christ-exalting? Is shopping God-honoring and Christ-exalting? Is hunting God-honoring and Christ-exalting?

Watching documentaries on God's creation is one type of recreation I enjoy.

The person in the pew behind you is not made any less a Christian simply because he has cable television and watches programming that does not promote sin.

It is very simple. My microwave is a tool I use to feed myself in order to stay alive. I go shopping to buy the things I need, in hunting one can go commune with God, behold his works, and provide for his family (I don't hunt btw).

It is very simple. You sit down and you consider watching a television program and ask "is this Christ-exhalting or God-honoring?" If you cannot answer 100% positive then you can not do it by faith and it is sin, for whatsoever is not of faith is sin. The question itself is so simple it needs not be expounded upon. Does this program honor God or exhalt his son?

For every Godless documentary on cable one finds, they could take that $30+ (being a conservitive estimate) spent on cable and buy God-honoring programs that give God the due credit he deserves for his creation. For a year that is $ 360 MINIMUM that they could spent on quality material (video if they like) that exhalts Christ.
