Tears of joy! Thank you Preacher! I appreciate it!

John just called and it seems as though they will now give him Benadryl prior to each chemo treatment. Apparently it is common to have this type of reaction to the chemo and giving Benadryl prior to administering chemo seemed to help. He went through the treatment without a problem!! Thank You, Lord! The prayers of the saints always reach the Throne of Grace and the God of Glory hears and answers!

Kate, hope everything is going well. What exactly is Benadryl? They gave that to me last week when I went into emergency for my eye problems.

I think its for allergic reactions. I would like to know more as well.

Benadryl is an anti-histamine. It is used to reduce allergic reactions, swelling, etc.

Yes, Benadryl is used to counteract allergic reactions.

John's white cells are at 1.2 (range for chemo patients is between 1.0 and 4.0) - so he is at the very low range. He cannot go to church for now or be around crowds of people - especially children who are receiving immunizations. He has another round of chemo next week, five days in a row. He talked to the oncologist about the Benadryl and how he reacts to it and they are going to try another type of antihistamine... I'm not a doctor but don't they all make you sleepy? Anyways, they are going to "play with the recipe" (the oncologist's own words, LOL) and see if the infusion will not be so taxing on my poor husband.

Praise the Lord, however, that our Marine made it home yesterday for a 17-day pre-deployment leave. He goes to the sand pit on September 14th for 7 months so we are doing our best to love on him, enjoy him, and spoil him while we have him!! )

John is healing from his surgery quite nicely. He came home on Saturday and each day is a bit better than the previous! Thank you ALL for your prayers.

The next round of chemo is suppose to happen next week if his blood work comes back OK on Thursday. After this round of chemo, John has one more in October and then he is finished!! Praise the Lord!!
