Our evangelistic efforts have been challenged. On two occasions the police have interrupted our door-to-door evangelism efforts. Once, while Jim and Alaina were visiting with a woman in her apartment, a policeman arrived and told her that Jim and Alaina had to leave. She protested, but the officer told her that after they were gone, he would explain why she didn’t want them there. Alaina was a little scared, but she is doing fine and continues to look forward to going on evangelism with her Dad. On another day, our partner in ministry, Pastor Sam, was taken to the police station for questioning. He witnessed to the officers and was allowed to leave literature in the waiting area of the police station. The police told us that we can witness on the street and we can put literature in mailboxes, but we are no longer allowed to go door-to-door. Praise the Lord we still have some freedom to tell people about Jesus! Jim Hutchinson, Russia

At our men’s early morning prayer meeting, one of the prayer requests was, “Please pray that my wife won’t divorce me today.†It was a mixed marriage and he had signed a document written in Chinese that turned out to be divorce papers. His wife held them so in case he “misbehaved†she could have the marriage dissolved and he would be deported. I met with this couple for several weeks as we worked through their problems, the most important being they needed our Lord’s saving grace. Both prayed to confess their sin and receive Jesus. On a special date night they had a “Divorce Papers Burning Ceremony†that went a long way to healing their relationship. It’s a blessing to see how God heals broken marriages. David Homer, Taiwan

Ruthie is a faithful, little girl who has been going to our church for years. One Sunday morning in October, Jan noticed Ruth’s long, sad face and asked what was wrong. Ruth said that her dad was hospitalized due to miner’s lung, and that he was about to die. Ruth was extra sad because her dad was not saved. Jan promised to go visit her dad that very afternoon.
When Jan arrived at the hospital room, she found Ruthie’s dad fast asleep. She was told that he hadn’t been able to sleep for two nights, due to difficulty in breathing. Jan was unsure of staying or going and coming back later. She sat down and decided to pray until he woke up. A long while later, the man opened his eyes and saw Jan. She greeted him, and then asked, “If you died today, do you know for sure that you would go to Heaven?†He gathered all of the strength he had in his dying body, sat up in bed, and in a very strong, husky voice said, “No! I’m lost!†When Jan asked him if he would like to know how to be saved, he responded with a very loud, “Yes!†She then proceeded to show him the Roman’s Road and ended with the man asking the Lord into his heart.
Afterwards, Jan hurried to Ruthie’s house to share the good news. Ruth was extremely happy and relieved. A few hours later, her father passed into eternity. Dennis Horn, Bolivia
